Top-level runs done on emulator January 18, 2018 or later must use any method available to show/prove that a movie file is currently not being played. This applies to all games and categories, unless stated otherwise in the rules.
Ie. any of the following:
- Show a message from the emulator that a movie file is currently not being played.
- Show a message from the emulator that a movie file is currently being recorded.
- Any other hud message/information that is not possible while a movie file is being played.
- Showing a frame counter (before and after run) is enough, if it is displayed differently while a movie file is being played.
If your emulator does not support any of the above, your run will
not be accepted!
Clarifications:
- "Top-level runs" will vary from game to game and category to category - it's basically up to the moderator. But you should think about following these rules as soon as you're in the top half of the leaderboard, or definitely if you're within 10% of the record time.
- The HUD-message does not need to be on for the entire run (generally). Ex: you can show the frame counter at the start and at the end of the run. If you're unsure, check with the moderator for the game you're playing.
- If you decide to submit an emulator run as a console run, it will not be accepted and you might potentially get flagged for attempted cheating.
- A game/category may completely bypass these rules with it's own rules. Always check the game rules before submitting!
- None of these rules apply to any run done before January 18, 2018.
